This one statement really hit home how utterly frivulous the games are. While most provinces saw a drop in their child poverty rate between 1989 and 2007, only Ontario and BC saw the situation worsen, with BC experiencing the largest increase (of 30%). Our MLA is from NDP and the Child Poverty was probably the area he put the most emphasis on. He said that the media seems to be more interested in and show support for Child Poverty than any other poverty issues, so this can also be the leading area to start building awareness and getting support for poverty in general.
