Re impacts of construction in general and the Canada Line in particular:  has anyone estimated the impact of the decision to dig up rather than tunnel Cambie on congestion and hence the time devoted to an average road trip in Vancouver and then put a value on that time ... my back of the envelope calculation:  100,000 trips a day delayed an average of 2 minutes because of the congestion resulting from digging up Cambie.  If one values time @ $15 an hour then 2 minutes is worth 50 cents.   Daily cost of delay = $50,000 or over a
period of slightly under three years about $50,000,000.

And any possibility that ICBC will produce accident figures for the Cambie/Knight/ Main/ Oak corridors before and during the construction period  ? -- my guess is accidents went up and we are paying higher premiums to ICBC today for the congestion/frustration resulting from not  tunneling.
